2026: The year of you
2026: The year of you
The kids are back at school, and most of us are back in the swing of things. 2026 has officially kicked off.
We are also back at work and have already had several conversations with our clients. As expected, many find themselves in resolution territory, confidently hopeful that this will be the year where they make the necessary changes stick. We are all for aiming upwards and spend plenty of time coming up with strategies alongside our clients to be healthier, read and learn more, communicate more clearly with their teams, spend better quality time with their loved ones, get off TikTok, or whatever they are trying to achieve.
The two of us also have specific things we want to achieve this year. There are potentially some exciting things on the horizon that we want to be ready for. Like you, neither of us is sure what twists and turns this year might have in store, but we want to be as ready as possible for them.
Somebody asked me last week: “What does 2026 have in store for you?” and I genuinely don’t know. But I do know that there are specific things I need to pay constant attention to to stay on course through the unknown. The most significant part of this is much less about what I do, but about who I will aim to be. Our friend Pierre du Plessis shared something last week that sums it up nicely:
“WHO you are will always be infinitely more important than WHAT you do. If you operate from a place of worth, you will aim for what will suit the true you and, in so doing, make you more you”.
So, in 2026, my primary focus will be on who I am, rather than goals, habits and outcomes. Those things are there, but they are of secondary importance. Accomplishing anything cool will feel like a hollow victory if I’m not proud of the person I am in the process of achieving it. If I can show up with love and care, treat others with respect, while being reliable, disciplined, and joyful, this year will be an enormous success.
Having high aims at the start of the year is a good thing. You should be trying to better yourself and your circumstances. But I believe that the people we become and the way we treat others will always outlast the things we accomplish.
Have a wonderful 2026. May it be the year where you become more fully you. Happy New Year!!
