How has your 2023 gone thus far?
Welcome to the first Friday of the second half of 2023.
At the beginning of this week, we did a half-yearly review of our business (as most very responsible business owners are likely to do ;)): We had an honest look at what is working, what is not, what is gaining traction, what needs adjustment, what have we learned and what do we need to change?
This got me thinking – the start of the second half of the year is as good a time as any to take stock on a personal level of how 2023 has gone thus far. If you have been reading our content for a while, you might recall that we shared this challenge at the start of the year:
If you could only get or do 5 things in 2023, what would have the biggest positive impact on your life?
Do you still recall what you had on your list? If you did not make a list, you can always start the process now for the remainder of the year. I went back to my list to see how I was tracking against my aims: I’ve ticked off one item, three are a work in progress (with varying degrees of completion), and one I’ve actually dropped completely and substituted with something else. I think it’s Ok to change your mind when life circumstances change. Adaptability, after all, is a key ingredient of resilience!
Like you have to do when doing open-water swimming, it’s a very good idea to pick up your head every now and again to see if you are still doing in the right direction. So our challenge to you is to do a mid-2023 review of where you are now compared to where you would like to be.
What is working or going well?
Where have you made significant progress since the start of the year?
What do you need to adjust or do a little differently?
And what might you have to drop or replace completely?
Like most people want to start a new diet on a Monday, you don’t have to wait for the start of 2024 to get back on track. You also shouldn’t fail to notice the progress you’ve made already – it might just be the motivation you need to stay on track.
This week we are keeping it short – thank you for reading! Wishing you and the Springboks a fantastic weekend – GO BOKKE!!
